FOR ORGANIZATIONS

Assessment and recognition for supply chain and procurement functions.

Certifications develop individuals. Organizational assessment examines the function they work in, against a published standard written for your sector.

THE CASE

A team of certified professionals is not the same as a capable function.

Capability sits in how a function is designed, how consistently it operates, and what it produces. Individual qualifications tell you about the people. They do not tell you whether the function around them works.

SCPMI assesses the function.

WHAT IS ASSESSED

Supply chain, procurement, or both.

Procurement

Your procurement function, measured against the published standard for your industry.

Supply chain

The same, for supply chain management.

Both

Assessed together, where the two are examined as one.

Assessment can be scoped at enterprise, regional, country, business unit or functional level.

TWO DIMENSIONS

Conformity first. Then performance.

1. Conformity

Does the function meet the published standard? Findings are recorded as conformity or nonconformity, and nonconformities are classified as major or minor. This is the threshold.

2. Performance

How far beyond that threshold does the function operate? This determines the level of recognition.

THE PATH

The Excellence Roadmap

Nine steps carry an organization from first application to recognized excellence. The order matters. The improvement work sits between two assessments, not before the first.

01.

Engage

Application and scope definition. The Institute and the organization agree the applicable standard, the assessment boundaries, the business units, the locations and the stakeholders. Clear scope ensures that any recognition accurately represents what was assessed.

02.

Discover

A structured diagnostic against the standard, establishing where the function currently stands and identifying the evidence, the stakeholders and the processes the assessment will require.

03.

Assess

Independent assessment. Assessors examine not simply whether processes exist, but whether they are properly designed, actually implemented, and producing meaningful outcomes.

04.

Verify

Evidence verification. Claims are tested against objective evidence for existence, deployment, consistency and effectiveness. Evidence is verified rather than accepted.

05.

Benchmark

The assessment report. Not a score, but a structured roadmap: current position, strengths, capability gaps, priority improvement areas, recommended actions, and what is required to reach the next level. Written to be acted on rather than filed.

06.

Improve

The organization addresses the gaps identified, using its own leadership and resources or an adviser of its own choosing. Implementation remains the organization’s responsibility. The separation between improvement and assessment is deliberate and absolute. SCPMI does not consult on organizations it assesses. Where asked, the Institute may suggest options, and it carries no liability for the party chosen or for the work performed.

07.

Reassess

Formal reassessment. Assessors examine what changed, whether it is consistently applied, and whether it has improved performance in a way that can be sustained.

08.

Validate

Independent recognition review. Findings and evidence are considered by a Recognition Board that operates separately from the assessment team. The Board may approve recognition, require further evidence, require further improvement, require reassessment, or decline.

09.

Recognize

Organizations meeting the required threshold are formally recognized.

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT

Three things worthknowing before you commit.

The standard is published.

Standards are drafted and validated by practitioners in the sector, so the requirements come from the professionals who work to them. You can read the standard you will be measured against before you decide to be measured.

We do not consult on organizations we assess.

An institute that repairs a function and then grades it has an interest in the verdict. Improvement is your work, done however you choose.

Assessors are certified as individuals.

They evaluate evidence. They do not help build it, and they do not assess where they have an interest.

Payment for an assessment does not guarantee recognition.

RECOGNITION

What an award states.

Organizational Excellence in Procurement

Conferred where the procurement function alone was assessed.

Organizational Excellence in Supply Chain Management

Conferred where the supply chain function alone was assessed.

Organizational Excellence in Supply Chain and Procurement Management

Conferred where both were assessed against the standard for the sector.

An award states what was examined, and nothing beyond it.Recognition runs for three years, and every organization holding current recognition appears on a public register.
